Average cost of living

Minimum 450 - 550 per month depending on rent and lifestyle.

Tandem program

Students automatically receive Hungarian partner students, who contact them by email and are ready to answer all the questions concerning life in Hungary, Budapest and the university.

Health insurance

Students are recommended to insure themselves in their home country. For students whose home country has an agreement with Hungary on health care, the medical examination is free of charge, but the medicines have to be paid for. Dental service is provided in the main building of the university, medical service is provided in each district of the city.

Information on the new (EU) regulations can be found on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs - Hungary (http://konzuliszolgalat.kormany.hu/en) or at the diplomatic and consular missions of Hungary (see the Ministry website for the list).

The regulations for the registration of the place of residence and the residence permit can also be found on the website of the Office of Immigration and Nationality (www.bmbah.hu) and/or of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (http://konzuliszolgalat.kormany.hu/en).

Visa requirements for non EU-students

Students outside EU countries should turn to the relevant authorities (and their websites) at least 2 months before the beginning of their studies.

They should hand in their application for a D5 student visa at the Hungarian Embassy in their home country. With a valid student visa they can apply for a residence permit when they arrive in Budapest. The student visa may take up to 60 days to obtain.
